Please use this page to share your ideas and plans for the event. To add to the page Click the edit tab above. If you create an account - please use the same "Name" as you use on the Bose® Pro Portable PA Community so we'll recognize you. The idea is to use this page for ideas that are fairly firm, and use the message board discussion (link below) for the ongoing conversation.

Discussions on the Message Boards Bose Southeast Conference possibilities... named South Atlantic States to cover Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia

Venue

Suggestions have centered around Asheville North Carolina (link to a map). John Sweet has been investigating.

Top of the list so far seems to be the Switzerland Inn using the Geneva Hall for music and meeting facilities.

Switzerland Inn / Geneva Hall

  • Switzerland Inn
No music facilities but there is the Geneva Hall nearby. The Geneva Hall can be rented for $150 to $200 day. (probably weekend vs weekday rate). See John Sweets detailed notes:
Called Switzerland Inn - spoke to nice man named Jack.
    • Jack said Geneva Hall can be rented for $150 to $200 day. (probably weekend vs weekday rate).
    • Their standard rooms rates on weekends are (for mountain view) $110 / night to $170 / night for a larger room with two queens.
    • They discount the rooms (with a booking of 20 or more rooms) $30 on weekdays. (Sunday - Thursday).
    • They can provide all meals and offer full bar service. Every Friday night they have a Prim Rib and Seafood buffet. Or, if we had 75 people or more, they'd provide the buffet for us exclusively some other evening. They can do things like "three menu option" meals as well.
    • April availability:
      • April 27, 28, 29 (Sunday to Tuesday) Discounted rate
    • May availability:
      • May 4, 5, 6 (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)
      • May 9, 10 (and possibly 11)
        • This is Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Mother's day weekend) We would get the $30/room discount this weekend. (only discounted weekend available)
    • May 30, 31 Friday, Saturday (possibly Sunday)
    • June is Booked
    • July is open July 18, 19.
    • Otherwise, we get into September / October timeframe.
    • There are hiking trails to water falls very nearby and a mountain (by east coast standards) 15 miles away for a good 5 - 6 hour hike.
    • That's about all the info I collected. Will let you know if I hear back from Wild Acres Retreat.

Geneva Hall

Geneva Hall is a country meeting hall. It is all wood. Wood floors, walls, ceiling. Approximate dimensions are 30x60. There are approximately 50 metal fold-up chairs. There is a small raised stage in one corner. It is raised approximately 8". There is a kitchen and refrigerator. We could provide beverage services. We do have a nice patio on the lobby of the lodge; it is not covered.

notes from John Sweet

Other Venues discussed

  • Bend of Ivy Lodge (probably too small)
  • The Crest Center
  • Wildacres Retreat
Comments from Ken-at-Bose: As you'll see this place already hosts lots and lots of music groups. It looks really neat, and has plenty of rooms. What I can't tell is pricing. Availability is also an issue: they're really popular. We'd have to squeeze in, or maybe plan something further out if you folks like this place. Would someone be willing to phone and find out more?
  • Eseeola Lodge - Linnville, NC (the golfy place)

Lodging

See above - still being investigated.

Late May - Early June?

  • Comments from the discussion
    • John Nell - Last weekend in May, first weekend in June / Unavailable in April
    • John Sweet - Last weekend in May, first weekend in June / "Late vs early April is more viable for me."
    • Roy - Late May cuts into revenue season
    • Tom Munch - Unavailable after second week of May
    • Col. Andy - Last week of April, first week of May are fine but flexible except second weekend of each month

Performers and Attendance List

Equipment Provided

Many of the people who might be driving volunteered to bring gear. When the venue is finalized, we can list who is bringing what in this section.

If you don't see it here, then plan on bringing it with you. And if you are bringing something, then please let me know via a PM or sign in here and add your stuff to the list. Thanks. - BBE
