Discussions on the Message Boards Bose Southeast Conference possibilities... named South Atlantic States to cover Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia

Venue

Suggestions have centered around Asheville North Carolina (link to a map). Sweet has been investigating.

Top of the list so far seems to be the Switzerland Inn using the Geneva Hall for music facilities.

  No music facilities but there is the Geneva Hall nearby. The Geneva Hall can be rented for $150 to $200 day. (probably weekend vs weekday rate). See John Sweets detailed notes:

  • Jack said Geneva Hall can be rented for $150 to $200 day. (probably weekend vs weekday rate).
  • Their standard rooms rates on weekends are (for mountain view) $110 / night to $170 / night for a larger room with two queens.
  • They discount the rooms (with a booking of 20 or more rooms) $30 on weekdays. (Sunday - Thursday).
  • They can provide all meals and offer full bar service. Every Friday night they have a Prim Rib and Seafood buffet. Or, if we had 75 people or more, they'd provide the buffet for us exclusively some other evening. They can do things like "three menu option" meals as well.
  • April availability:
    • April 27, 28, 29 (Sunday to Tuesday) Discounted rate
  • May availability:
    • May 4, 5, 6 (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)
    • May 9, 10 (and possibly 11)
      • This is Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Mother's day weekend) We would get the $30/room discount this weekend. (only discounted weekend available)
  • May 30, 31 Friday, Saturday (possibly Sunday)
  • June is Booked
  • July is open July 18, 19.
  • Otherwise, we get into September / October timeframe.
  • There are hiking trails to water falls very nearby and a mountain (by east coast standards) 15 miles away for a good 5 - 6 hour hike.
  • That's about all the info I collected. Will let you know if I hear back from Wild Acres Retreat.

  Comments from Ken-at-Bose: As you'll see this place already hosts lots and lots of music groups. It looks really neat, and has plenty of rooms. What I can't tell is pricing. Availability is also an issue: they're really popular. We'd have to squeeze in, or maybe plan something further out if you folks like this place. Would someone be willing to phone and find out more?
